The next meeting of our Board of Directors is scheduled for October 16, 2019, from 6 to 8 pm, in Room 204 at the SF LGBT Center, 1800 Market Street, in San Francisco.  Community members are welcome to attend. Please note the special meeting time.  The preliminary agenda will be available a few days before the meeting.  The minutes of the meeting of August 24, 2019 can be viewed here.

Please plan to attend the Leather Pride Parade — a new tradition that also honors the PRC’s “LeatherWalk” fundraiser — culminating in a Leather Flag Inauguration Celebration at Eagle Plaza, on Sunday, September 22, just one week before the Folsom Fair.

The event will not be a fundraiser the way Leatherwalk was, but it will have a truck, music, an honor guard, and mini-contingents from any and all interested community organizations. The parade will be officially hosted by the Friends of Eagle Plaza, with the SF Eagle hosting the beer bust at the end. Persons under age 21 are welcome to join the Parade, but may not enter the bars or the festival at the end.  A “cable car” will allow the mobility impaired to participate.

The Parade will start at the Folsom Foundry (1425 Folsom Street, between 10th and 11th). Please arrive between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m., sign in, and show your ID to get a “21+” wristband to speed up entry to all venues.

You can join the Leather and LGBTQ Cultural District contingent, or march with your favorite leather / queer organization or group. We hope to “step off” at noon, and march down Folsom, 8th, and Harrison Streets (stopping at Powerhouse / Hole in the Wall, Mr. S Leather, the Stud, and the Lone Star Saloon), before arriving at the Leather Flag Inauguration Celebration at Harrison and 11th Street some time around 2 pm.  At that time we will raise a new 25’x15′ Leather Flag on a magnificent 80-foot flagpole at the entrance to the (not-yet-completed) Eagle Plaza.

After that comes an expanded version of the traditional San Francisco Eagle Beer Bust.  As always, the $15 beer bust offers beer or soda from 3 to 6 pm, and a delicious plate of food served on the Eagle patio.  But for this occasion the party extends up and down Harrison Street, from Division to 11th Street, with beer and cocktail service, booths, an entertainment stage, and more.

Harrison Street will be closed to traffic for this special, private event, and you must be 21 years of age, with ID, to enter. Admission is free.

The Cultural District has also reserved its own booth at the Folsom Street Fair.  The fair happens on Sunday, September 29, 2019. from 11 am to 6 pm.  (Our booth location should be announced soon.)  We will need volunteers to distribute our brochures and encourage folks to join our mailing list.  Also, just for some fun, we have a little game we tested out at Sunday Streets SOMA, letting folks win swag by solving a simple puzzle about SOMA history, geography or leather culture. Please sign-up for a shift at the booth here, or just write to outreach-chair@sfleatherdistrict.com and let us know what time slot you’d like.  Hopefully lots of folks can handle the table for 1 or 2 hours, so everyone will have time to enjoy the rest of the Fair.
