Queer Culture Club

We were very pleased to help con-sponsor the GLBT Historical Society’s new “Queer Culture Club,” series, which began last week with the Historical Society’s executive director Terry Beswick interviewing gay radical sex photographer Mark I. Chester.  (See more info here.)  Watch for future episodes of the series, on the second Thursday of each month.

Walking Tour Needs Input

Your memories and photographs of the Miracle Mile are precious.  Share them with your friends and future visitors by contributing to our planned Leathertown Walking Tour.  Details are here.

Erotic Storytelling Hour

If you haven't yet dropped in on our Erotic Storytelling Hours on alternate Tuesdays, you are missing out on some friendly, sexy, fun. The next installment is on Tuesday, January 19, at 8 pm; Zoom in here, visit the Facebook event for more info, or click here to see videos of some of our past evenings!  (Be 18+!)

We are also thrilled to note that our host for this event, Sumiko Saulsonis a recipient of a Horror Writer's Association's 2020 DIversity Grant.   The grants were created by the HWA to help remove some of the barriers—often unseen but very real—which limit the amount of horror fiction being published by diverse voices.

Ways to Get Involved

Help shape the future of SOMA!  Have your voice heard, participate in any or all of these meetings!

Murals

These days many of us are taking walks, just to get out of the house.  That can be a great opportunity to visit and appreciate the Murals and other street art in our neighborhood. And if your building is in the District and you would be intertested in a mural, apply here, read more here, or get in touch with us at info@sflcd.org.

Brace yourself:  the City is planning some big improvements for Folsom Street, and our Cultural District is helping .  Learn more here.

Time to Renew?

Memberships in the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District last one full year, so if you joined around this time in 2020, you will be getting an invitation to renew soon.  Membership is just $15 per year, and we waive that for anyone who is experiencing hardship (due to COVID-19 or for any other reason).  But you don't have to wait to be reminded:  you can renew at any time, and your membership will extend another full 365 days.  And if you are NOT already a member, what are you waiting for?  Click here to join or renew.

Please stay safe through this difficult Winter, that we may have a reawakening in Spring, a hot Summer, and an awesome Autumn!
