SOMA Second Saturday:  Movie Day!

• This month, SOMA Second Saturday is MOVIE DAY!
• March 12. 2022, 12 noon to 5 pm
• At the Folsom Street Community Center, 145 9th Street
• Please bring proof of vaccination and ID, and mask up as appropriate.
• Event will be moved to Zoom if circumstances dictate.
• Free snacks and non-alcoholic beverages!  This is a smoke-free event.
• Volunteers are needed:
  • Two shifts, 11:30 to 2:30 or 2:00 to 5:00
  • You’ll be with another volunteer.

Hiring:  Research Associate 

The LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District is looking for a Research Associate, to research past and present locations of significance for the District. The research will be used to establish a historical archive, to provide content for commemorative building plaques, and as the basis for a series of District walking tours.  Full info is at https://sfleatherdistrict.org/job/.  

Black History Month

We would like to honor Black History Month. Since 1926, February has been a time that Americans have recognized the many contributions and accomplishments of African Americans.  It expanded from a week to a month-long celebration in 1976.

• Last year, our local ONYX Northwest produced a panel discussion on The History and Role of BIPOC in the Leather and BDSM scene.
• This year, ONYX Northwest is having their Black, Brown and Kinky | Black Joy event at the Powerhouse on February 26, 6-9pm
• Earlier this month, NBC News posted this article, 16 queer Black trailblazers who made history

Save the Date!

Come celebrate our fourth anniversary!  Performances, demos, music and fun, all free on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, at the Folsom Street Foundry.  Watch for details!  

LGBTQ+ Couples Who Want to Quit Smoking 

• Join a study by the Drug Use and Behavior Laboratory at USC  
• Must be:
  • 18 or older
  • Live with or spend significant time with a partner who also smokes
• Compensation up to $450.
